I was tasked with creating a Hazard Identification/Risk Assessment (HIRA) document to an NGO in Nepal. The NGO was responsible for the health and safety of several monasteries, schools and health clinics. The focus of the document was earthquake preparation and in particular, instructions for what to do before, during and after an earthquake.
I asked Erin to become the editor/proofreader of the project.
Erin was able to take a document that was based upon physical science and its difficult and sometimes hard to understand concepts and masterfully sculpt it in a way that could be easily understood by an audience that used English as a second language. Moreover, her attention to detail caught subtle errors in the text, and her skill as an editor created a natural continuity that made the HIRA both accessible and easy to implement.
